See, Some Physicists Have Normal Work Ethics Too

March 7, 2009

An unnamed graduate student speaking about an unnamed professor had this to say:

I decided to have Professor X be my thesis advisor because he/she feels like a 40 hour week is sufficient.  The whole 50-60 hour a week attitude just wasn’t working for me.

So there you go, some physicists believe in normal work loads.

Introduction and Blog Purpose

September 9, 2007

I am a graduate student attending the University of California, Irvine studying theoretical physics and how it relates to cosmology. I wanted to create a blog whose purpose is to bring the theoretical physics/cosmology scene, as seen from the eyes of a graduate student, to the world. My goal is to be enjoyable for both researchers as well as laymen who are interested in these fields.

A secondary goal is to blog about various things that I feel make the world a better place or issues which I feel are important.  For example, I will post often about open source movements such as Linux or the Wikipedia that have proven fundamental in creating the tools and resources essential for scientific advancement and the overall progress of mankind.

In reality, I know I will sometimes stray from these goals, but I will do my best.  Hopefully when I stray it will still be in ways of interest to the readers.  🙂

Thanks.
